New Year's Resolutions Check-In

Well, it's time to see how I'm doing with my new year's resolutions so far.

  1. Be Positive. So far, I've started keeping a nightly journal listing positive things that happened during the day. This has been the hardest thing for me to get started. When I'm thinking through the positive, I think they all sound dumb. I might switch to do a morning pages journal. On a brighter note, I've been trying really hard (and succeeding) to be true to the absent. In other words, I don't say negative things about people behind their backs.
  2. Design My Life. Well, I finally finished unpacking from our move!!!! The bedrooms and closets are quite organized. I have some more tweaking to do, but, I'm happy with the work I've done! I've also started some inquiries regarding BS programs in Clinical Lab Sciences. I'd like to start in the fall of 2009, when Hal will start preschool. Because I already have a bachelor's in biology (and an MM in voice...do I really want to do MORE school?), I can most likely complete the new degree in 15 months. The work seems interesting, it would be a good "family job (singing, not so much)," and the starting salary is excellent!
  3. $200/month. So far, I have earned almost $60 selling on eBay this week! I project I'll bring in nearly $100 this month. Hooray!

Tune in Monday, for my recap of the Met's production of MacBeth (by Mean Joe Greene).

Nice work! I love the "be true to the absent" resolution - I've been working on that too. It's actually pretty startling to realize how easy it is to say mean things about people without meaning to. Thanks for the great reminder!
